General Objectives of Vocational Guidance
Introduction:
Vocational
guidance is one of the basic pillars in the life of
contemporary societies as this process continues
throughout the individual life, starting as he joins
kindergarten and continues throughout his shift to
the stages of general education, graduation in
higher education stages, embarking on practical life
till his pension.
Guidance process has an important and constructive
impact on the individual life as it helps him
achieve harmony between the various factors of his
personality, tendencies and preparedness and the
reality of life. This helps him develop and grow in
various psychological, social and economic aspects
and consequently assist in achieving prosperity and
progress of the society in which he lives.
The Concept of Guidance
It is a process
to guide the individual to the various paths through
which he is able to discover and utilize his
potentials and capabilities, tendencies and desires
to lead a pleasant life and contributes to the
happiness of his society.
General Objectives of
Guidance:
1- To guide
trainees in various psychological, moral, social,
educational and occupational aspects in order to
become active members in the nation building
process.
2- To discuss the personal, social or educational
problems encountered by the trainees during their
study and work towards finding appropriate solutions
which enable them to progress in their study.
3- To work towards discovering the skills,
capabilities and tendencies of distinct or ordinary
trainees and help them invest their skills.
4- To encourage trainees to learn and give them an
insight into the training unit system and help them
utilize available programmes.
5- To help trainees select the specialization and
occupation which meet the society requirements.
6- To guide trainees in cooperation with the
students tutor and solve their problems and
participate in various councils and committees.
