Introduction :

The principles and objectives of the social policies in the Ministry of Manpower focus on setting the programs necessary to protect the human resources, coordinating between these resources in respect of occupational safety and health field and providing the methods and mechanisms of protection against work injuries and occupational diseases since it is convinced that man is the real wealth of the society and the center and the aim of growth.
With the aim to achieve these principles, the ministry established the Occupational Safety and Health Department among its structures in order to set the protective programs necessary to save the worker and to provide the mechanisms that enable him to cope with the increasing hazards in the work environment which go hand in hand with the rapid development witnessed by the Sultanate. The Department does its best in order to provide a work environment void of pollutants which have negative effects not only on the workers at the workplaces but also on the environment in general. This is to be done through applying the terms of the occupational safety and health stated by the Labor Law and by the occupational safety and health regulation that shall be bounding for both the worker and the work owner.
