The Department Tasks

  • The empirical inspection for the private sector institutions in order to make sure that they are applying the occupational safety and health terms and conditions stated by the Labor Law and its executive resolutions and to take the necessary procedures in case of any breach.
  • Getting in the worksite and inspecting the registers related to the workers, discovering the breaches, making reports in respect of those breaches and taking the necessary procedures; either completely or partially closing the workplace or stopping the operation of one or more machines in case they represent a threat for the safety and the health of the workers.
  • Trying to achieve protective objectives with the aim to protect the workers from being exposed to the work hazards and to the diseases that may result from them.
  • Trying to provide a work environment void of pollutants which have negative effects not only on the workers at the workplaces but also on the environment in general.
  • Participating in the meetings of the committees specialized in the occupational safety and health at the national, territorial, Arabian and international levels.
  • Contributing in preparing the resolutions related to occupational safety and health.
  • Preparing for and organizing seminars and conferences in order to enlighten the work owners and the worker about the procedures and mechanisms of occupational safety and health, the developments I the work environment and the protection from the dangers of the work accidents.
  • Performing other tasks.

a- Occupational Safety Section:

  • Counting the institutions to be inspected.
  • Making sure that the private sector institutions are applying the provisions of the Labor Law and its executive resolutions in respect of occupational safety and health.
  • Getting in the workplaces and inspecting the workers registers and taking the necessary procedures including reporting the infractions and writing notifications concerning the removal of fines and containing the conditions to be followed.
  • Making sure that the workers accommodations meet the conditions of occupational safety.
  • Recording the serious accidents taking place in the institution and proposing the protective mechanisms.
  • Viewing the registers related to the work accidents and injuries and occupational diseases and giving remarks about them.
  • Making sure that the work environment is void of different hindrances.
  • Proposing seminars and conferences to inform the work owners and the workers about the occupational safety procedures and measures.

b- Occupational Health Section

  • Inspecting the medical examination registers.
  • Entering the workplaces and making sure that they meet the health conditions and taking the necessary procedures including reporting the infractions and writing notifications concerning the removal of fines and containing the conditions to be followed.
  • Studying the hindrances that may result in occupational diseases.
  • Examining labor samples to make sure that there are no occupational diseases.
  • Making sure that institution is performing the periodic medical examination.
  • Proposing seminars and conferences to inform the work owners and the workers about the occupational health procedures and measures.
