Council reviews job programmes
MUSCAT: The Council of Ministers discussed and reviewed several issues dealing with the social, educational and economic fields and job opportunities in its meeting held in September.
The Council also followed up with the government departments to implement the decisions relating to the basic demands of the society.
The ministerial committee formed by the Council to address the issues of job seekers outlined the important visions to provide opportunities to job seekers.
In this regard, the Council reviewed the mechanisms for self-employment programmes and support for the initiatives to increase job opportunities for youths and encouraging them to start individual or collective projects. The Council showed special interest in sport clubs and their role in the society.
The Ministry of Sports Affairs has been asked to submit a report on the aspirations of these clubs and the ministry’s vision in developing them.
As for the establishment of a new government university ordered by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, several steps have been taken in this regard.
The university will absorb courses — major in sciences — to fulfil the need of the coming stage of comprehensive development.
A higher committee and a main executive committee have been set up to carry out this responsibility. The Council of Ministers will also closely follow the implementation of various stages of this project.
