      <description>MUSCAT: More than 1,300 expatriates staying illegally in the Sultanate – most of them from Asian countries – were arrested by security agencies from various parts of Ruwi in the wee hours on Wednesday.       <title>Ministry receives 220 job-seekers</title>
      <description>
        MUSCAT — The employment centres at the Manpower Ministry received yesterday 220 job-seekers from a total number of 534 who are registered and were contacted to finalise their employment formalities in the private sector establishments.
        Twenty-two were directly employed in a number of private sector establishments and 54 were admitted in the on-the-job training including 21 to be trained abroad and two job-seekers were admitted in the individual and self-employment initiatives of Sanad Programme while 142 job-seekers refused the three jobs that were offered to them in the private sector and 314 job-seekers didn’t attend the interviews.

        MUSCAT — As many as 55,000 citizens have started work as of the end of July 2011, 23,000 in the public sector and 32,000 in the private sector from among the 74,917 job opportunities provided in different sectors following the Royal directives issued in February this year. Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Manpower Minister, told Oman News Agency and Oman TV recently that the private sector has appointed 6,500 females.

			<description>By Hamoud bin Saif al Mahrazy - MUSCAT  We met a woman over 50, carrying her Manpower Card in her hand: I need a job for a reasonable income to meet my daily needs, said the woman who was among hundreds of other job-seekers who flooded the premises of the Manpower Ministry recently. This woman, and the like of her, came to the ministry seeking permanent jobs that enable them to earn them a living. The Ministry of Social Development is providing unemployment benefits, yet, those people insist on obtaining an occupation. She handed her papers to a ministry employee praying to God to help her succeed in her pursuit.</description>

Three sub-categories (G2G, G2B, and G2C) relate to the intended recipient of the eService  Government, Business, and Citizen. Ministry of Manpower won this category for its National Manpower Registration (NMR) services.</description>

			<title>Ministry of Manpower keen on solving job seekers problems</title>
			<description>MUSCAT  Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasir al Bakri, Manpower Minister, yesterday focused on the ministrys policies and programmes in the labour market and manpower in the Sultanate. Addressing yesterdays session of the Majlis Ashshura, chaired by Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Isaee, the Majlis chief, the minister spoke about the job seekers, the efforts made by the ministry to develop proper solutions for them, how far the progress made in Omanisation in light of the big increase in the number of expatriate manpower and Omani job seekers, according to professions and economic sectors. The minister highlighted the status of the Omani job market, the number of graduates of technical education and the balance between them. He also covered the labour issues in the private sector in terms of wages, Article No 106 of the Labour Law. He also covered the expatriate manpower file and pointed out the policies and procedures for their recruitment, their absconding and the status in light of the amendment introduced to the Labour law.</description>

			<title>Royal grant to cover 25,056 job-seekers</title>
			<description>MUSCAT  The Ministry of Manpower will tomorrow begin to distribute the Royal grant offered by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to job seekers registered at the National Manpower Register. The grant covers 25,056 beneficiaries who updated their data via the ministrys website three months before the issuance of the Royal grant. This came in a statement by Dr Younis bin Khalfan al Akhzami, Director-General of Planning and Development at the ministry. Al Akhzami explained that the Royal grant will be distributed in co-operation with BankMuscat via prepaid cards to be issued by the bank to the beneficiaries free of charge. The ministry already began to notify the beneficiaries about the programme of distribution by sending short messages (SMS) to their mobile phones.</description>

			<description>As part of its constant efforts in easing documentation process and to enhance communication with the public, the Ministry of Manpower has launched SMS service system. Dubbed the first of its kind which allows the public to follow up their transactions with the ministry and provides access to information about the same, the system includes a number of services which had been activated in its services at present. Abdullah al Hattali, Deputy Director of the Employment Service at the Ministry of Manpower, said the ministry is making efforts to develop the services to offer advanced facilities. An SMS can let you know the present position of your document with us, he added. This service will be highly useful for companies and institutions as it has an effective tracking facility, and will also help job-seekers to get the right job. It would also help companies in their Omanisation drive via Short Message Services.</description>

			<title>Buraimi training centre to introduce new courses</title>
			<description>Three construction agreements and 23 other agreements to train and hire a number of Omani job seekers were signed at the Manpower Ministry yesterday. The agreements were signed by Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasir al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, and officials of the companies and institutes concerned. Hamad bin Khamis al Amri, Under-Secretary of the Manpower Ministry for Technical Education and Vocational Training, said that the first agreement is related to constructing a vocational training centre in the Governorate of Al Buraimi at a cost of RO 2,967,800. The centre, which will have a capacity of 1,200 students, will receive its first batch in 2012, said Al Amri. In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Al Amri pointed out that the vocational training centre in the Governorate of Al Buraimi will include new disciplines to be offered for the first time, including cosmetology.</description>

			<description>Sanad programme profit at 91m rials. The total profit of the small and medium enterprises within the Sanad programme amounted to 91 million rials, according to a survey of the programme in 2009 in 12,000 enterprises financed or funded by it. Small and medium enterprises constitute 95 per cent of the total institutions in the country and play a pivotal role in energising various economic sectors. There are 117,000 small and medium enterprises across the Sultanate, according to the data from the Ministry of National Economy.  Around 34,000 citizens were assisted by Sanad programme since its inception in 2001</description>
