Trade Unions Department

Profile:

This department undertakes the task of registering labor unions and issuance of registration certificates and follow up trade unions works. It carries out its mission through two sections:

• A) Labor unions section: it follows up the activities and works of labor unions.
• B) General Confederation of the Sultanate of Oman's Worker's section: It is concerned with the activities and works of the aforesaid confederation and the labor Unions.

Royal Decrees & Ministerial Decisions Relating to Trade Union's Work and Collective Bargaining:

• Royal Decree No.(74/2006)
• Royal Decree No.(112/2006)
• Ministerial decision No.(294/2006) on regulation of collective bargaining, peaceful strike and closures.
• Ministerial decision No.(311/2006) on regulation, formation, work and registration of labor unions, labor associations and the General Confederation of the Sultanate of Oman's Workers.

Prerogatives of Trade Unions Department

• 1. Implementation of the provisions of the labor law and its decisions relating to the formation and work of labor unions at establishments and the labor associations and General Confederation of the Sultanate of Oman's Workers.
• 2. Receive application for registration of labor unions and associations and verify that such applications meet the requirements.
• 3. Represent the Ministry in general meetings of labor unions and associations at establishments and the General Confederation of the Sultanate of Oman's Workers.
• 4. Follow up works of labor unions at establishments and labor unions and associations and the General Confederation of the Sultanate of Oman's Workers and their compliance with their constitutions.
• 5. Prepare data and statistics on the follow up of labor unions.
• 6. Participate in the works of collective bargaining and peaceful strikes.
• 7. Any tasks to be assigned to it.
