This department is concerned with the following:

• Preparing and developing vocational programs and curricula in accordance with the endorsed vocational criteria and the labor market requirements.
• Coordinating with the vocational criteria and skills test center to formulate the general framework of vocational qualifications.
• Preparing and updating educational means and material to implement the endorsed curricula of the programs implemented at the government training centers.
• Conducting technical studies of the training programs and courses presented by private training establishments and writing reports on them.
• Preparing and developing vocational tests in coordination with the vocational criteria and skills test center.
• Drafting and applying a mechanism for awarding various vocational certificates by government and private training institutes and endorsing these certificates.
• Participating with other concerned departments at the directorate in granting initial and final approval for establishing private training establishments and endorsing their programs and curricula.
• Conducting required research and studies to develop the Omani vocational training system, particularly its factors relating to programs, curricula, assessment, vocational certificates and educational means.
